Belfort President Mark W. Decker (U.S. Naval Academy alumnus), let me
tell you about this lowlife. Starts the workday between 9-10AM by
checking work and personal email. Come 11-11:30AM, he's getting ready
to go to the local gym to work out. Gets back in the office around 1PM
and only then decides to take a lunch break as if the gym workout
didn't count for a lunch break. By 1:30PM, he back checking work and
personal email and maybe making a few entires in his family diary
which he keeps at work on the company hard drive. Come 3-4PM, he's
getting anxious and is looking to wrap up his workday so he can go
home and coach soccer league for one of his three daughters. Needless
to say, all thru-out his "playful" workday, one gets to see all his
dirty nasty habits including:
1) scratching his balls,
2) stroking his cock,
3) farting (and then asking someone else if they farted),
4) belching,
5) biting his fingernails,
6) picking his nose (and eating the choice boogies),
7) scratching his ass,
8) picking at his toenails
9) coughing (he has a chronic productive cough... yuck)
Now keep in mind that this is a US Naval Academy graduate (Class of
1979) who's motto is "don't do as I do" but "do as I say!" Makes
complete sense because he superiors in the U.S. Navy recognized his
lack of leadership very early on. That's why Lt. Decker didn't last in
the U.S. Navy and decided to enter the corporate world where he could
use his skills of conniving, lying, denying, concealing, deceiving,
and making things up!
Let's get this straight, he been with at least three different
companies over the past dozen years, all where he had a hand in
running them into the ground. Doesn't a midshipman know how to steer a
boat to prevent it from running into the ground? He's been with:
1) Unc, Inc.
2) Mentor Technologies
3) Belfort Instruments
and now there appears to be evidence that he either resigned or
was fired from Belfort Instrument Company for "poor performance."
Seems like he spent four years trying to sell DigiWx and DigiWx AWOS
and was a miserable failure at all of it while dragging down the
finances for the rest of the Belfort company. It's easy to conclude
that Mark W. Decker is "all that and a bag of chips" along with
some "shit" salza on the side!
How many freakin passes does this lowlife (who was born with a silver
spoon in his mouth) get? What kind of role model is he for his three
daughters Audrey, Hanna, and Libby Decker? And how about his wife
Jennifer Racey who decided to keep her maiden name (maybe because she
knew about the lowlife she married).
Why do we have lowlifes like Mark W. Decker around? This guy thinks he
the best thing since sliced bread. He doesn't think his shit stinks
and he doesn't think too highly of woman in general either. Wonder how
he'll explain that one to his three daughters one day?

I saw where Mark W. Decker is now working at Belfort Instrumentation
as I always wonder where he went after skipping out of Dodge City just
barely when he left Mentor Technologies. If he hadn't left Mentor in
2001, Decker would have been shown the exit after his dismal
performance at Mentor. The thing I will always remember about Decker
was his passion for playing pocket pool, the kind one plays when they
have something nasty growing in their crotch out of control. I mean
get some Desenex or something for that jungle rot. He was absolutely
icky just watching him work his hands in his pants pocket as he
attempted to reach his private parts in search of a much needed
scratch. Several coworkers always wondered exactly why he scratched
his crotch in public for everyone to see and notice. I guess he
figured that he could be a Baltimore Oriole Cal Ripkin on the baseball
diamond and nobody would notice, well many people did notice and found
it disgusting and repulsive to say the least. I know I always wonder
what his wife must have growing in her crotch as a result of him
passing along his germs and god knows what else to her. Anybody at
Belfort Instrumetnation seen Decker digging at his pecker in public? I
would bet he still is!
Belfort Instruments suing fired worker Mark W. Decker
A Baltimore manufacturer of weather instruments is suing a fired
employee it claims is on an anonymous Internet rampage. Belfort
Instrument says Mark W. Decker has been harassing current Belfort
employees via e-mail, calling the company's customers and partners
alleging unethical business practices, and posting trade secrets on
the Internet. Defendant Decker has an alarming history of engaging
in such 'anonymous' Internet attacks against those who he believes may
have slighted him (including past employers), and, absent a TRO, will
continue his historical pattern of making outrageous and harmful
attacks against the material business interests of Belfort Instrument,
reads Belfort's complaint, filed earlier this month in Baltimore
County Circuit Court. Belfort, which obtained a temporary restraining
order against Decker on Nov. 15, is suing him for misappropriating
trade secrets, breach of contract, defamation and tortious
interference with contractual relations. The company is seeking $1
million. After consulting with his client, Belfort attorney Douglas W.
Desmarais declined to speak about the case. My client's position is
that this is a dispute that they have chosen to resolve through legal
channels, and they're going to let it play out through legal channels,
Desmarais said. Decker could not be located for comment; his phone
number is unlisted and a reverse search of his Annapolis, MD address
produced no results. According to the complaint, when Decker started
working for Belfort in 2001, he signed a contract promising that, if
he left the company, for two years afterward he would not say negative
things about it; if he did, he would face court action. He is also
bound by the Maryland Uniform Trade Secrets Act not to divulge
privileged information, Belfort says. Decker was fired on Oct. 20 of
this year and then started to harass his ex-girlfriend, still a
Belfort employee, via e- mail, the suit reads. He also allegedly e-
mailed the company's general mailbox anonymously, promising to fight
back against the company and drive it out of business. The company
also claims he called their customers and made untrue allegations.
Decker also used an Internet newsgroup to criticize the Belfort
product he had been in charge of marketing, the DigiWx AWOS digital
weather transmitter, calling it DigiSHIT, Belfort claims. He also
allegedly listed which of Belfort's customers were using DigiWx. The
motion does not state how Belfort knows that Decker is behind the
anonymous e-mails, phone calls and Internet postings, but a letter
from Desmarais to Decker warns that Belfort can easily trace the
communications to Decker. Belfort also claims that Decker has a
history of using pseudonyms to criticize whoever has offended [him] on
a particular day. Indeed, a search of Google's newsgroups shows lots
of chatter about Decker, including several posts purporting to
unmask him as the anonymous source of negative comments about
Baltimore.

L'errore principale di questa produzione francese è quello di rifarsi
ai classici americani del genere (Scarface, Il Padrino, Carlito's way)
invece di pescare nel gangsteristico locale, che pure ha un'importante
tradizione alle spalle. Ma si sa, questi film da esportazione devono
soddisfare un pubblico possibilmente molto ampio, che di polar non sa
nulla. Il prezzo da pagare però è l'anonimato di un film che certo ti
risolve la serata, ma che dimentichi immediatamente, e che di francese
ha solo due cose: è ambientato a Marsiglia e ci lavora Jean Reno. Scene
d'azione nervose, confezione curata, cast adeguato. Non si capisce il
motivo scatenante della sanguinosa faida, ma va bene, nemmeno ce ne
importa.

Una focacceria di Altamura (Bari) costringe alla chiusura un grande
McDonald's. A questa impresa, descritta come portentosa, è dedicata
un'operina a tesi che si basa su un'ideuzza da cortometraggio, dilatata
eccessivamente. Sul tema, non poco retorico, dell'orgogliosa resistenza
di un minuscolo Davide contro un gigantesco e feroce Golia (ma la
vicenda è alquanto strumentalizzata) si poteva fare assai meglio di
quanto faccia questo finto documentario, lungo, noiosetto, tecnicamente
appena presentabile. Imbarazzanti i camei di Lino Banfi e Renzo Arbore,
totalmente inutili e fastidiosi (meglio Vendola nel ruolo del
proprietario del cinema), patetico il medico locale che, pur in
evidente soprappeso, con tanto di camice bianco e stetoscopio appeso al
collo, pontifica sulla pericolosità di certe abitudini alimentari
ipercaloriche, come se la focaccia barese non fosse una bomba da 500
calorie a fetta.
Alla fine vincono i sapori e le tradizioni di una volta, la nostra
focaccia è buonissima, gli americani non possono comprendere la
specificità di certi luoghi, ma la verità è che Altamura, e lo stesso
vale per tanti altri paesi pugliesi, è una citta assai globalizzata
sotto molteplici aspetti, e se la focaccia resiste all'avanzaza dei
McMenùCancerogeni, o come diavolo si chiamano, è solo perchè è
infinitamente più buona. Ma per il resto, ad Altamura come altrove,
tantissimi mestieri tradizionali scompaiono, la gente festeggia al
McDonald's il compleanno dei bambini, le persone grattano e (non)
vincono, guardano le partite sul digitale terrestre e usano le carte di
credito come in qualsiasi altro posto. Solo il palato, ovviamente,
resiste, come in migliaia di altri posti in Italia, un Paese la cui
cultura è ormai quasi esclusivamente legata alla tavola e ai prodotti
tipici. Invece il filmetto in questione vuole trarre da questa storia
(ripeto, alquanto "romanzata") insegnamenti generali e una morale
rurale edificante e di facile presa.
Grande successo inaspettato, ma si poteva fare di più e meglio.

Un po' lento e un po' ripetitivo ma nel complesso niente male.
Tratto dall'omonimo manga.
Poi tradotto in un anime di 26 episodi, diviso in due parti.
Dovrebbe essere stato trasmesso anche da noi in qualche canale
"particolare" per via delle diffuse scene di nudo.
Scene comunque innocue, per quello che ho visto.
Praticamente abolite nel film.
Il seguito "Gantz: Perfect Answer" è dato per il 2011.
Non so se è già uscito.

Camionisti contro poliziotti: l'assunto sta tutto qui, e pare una
grossa, grossa fesseria. Un carosello di inseguimenti e infrazioni
della legge, con il poliziotto grasso e odioso che fa costantemente la
figura del fesso, il camionista macho e impossibile, personaggi e
dialoghi monodimensionali, belle donne disponibili, esibizionismo,
folle in delirio. Ma quella che sulla carta sembra una stupidaggine
diventa un'amara riflessione sull'America, un disperato, virile e
sconsiderato, atto di libertà e irriverenza, contro le istituzioni e i
poteri costituiti, lo spaccato struggente di un contesto corporativo
(quello dei camionisti) alimentato da amicizia e devozione verso i
propri "simili". Un mondo a parte, come i surfisti di "Un mercoledì da
leoni" e "Point break", o gli automobilisti di "Fast'n furious", con le
sue regole, i suoi ideali, il suo carattere. A quanto pare questo
"Convoy", che è un western fino al midollo, è stato massacrato in sala
di montaggio, e in effetti, specialmente all'inizio, si fatica a
capirne il tono. Tuttavia il film, pur non essendo tra i Peckinpah più
memorabili, è decisamente godibile, e significativo di un'epoca
cinematografica in cui le immense colonne di autoveicoli in corsa sulle
strade americane (si pensi per esempio anche a "Sugarland express" e
"The blues brothers") erano sinonimo di libertà. Il resto lo fanno i
tanti stunt vecchia maniera, la tantissima polvere, un fantastico
Borgnine che da solo vale il prezzo del biglietto, Kristofferson
bellissimo, Ali McGraw fuori scala e, ovviamente, le canzoni.

Delizioso. Passato totalmente inosservato (scopro che risale
addirittura al 2008), è un'ottima commedia edificante, dove edificante
per una volta non ha connotazioni negative e/o stucchevoli. Splendido
il Costner padre sdrucito e disilluso alla "Perfect world", ma meno
dolente e meno incazzato, più simile alla placida e fanciullesca
ignoranza di Homer Simpson. Ben condotta la parabola morale sul sentire
americano (e non solo), sul valore del singolo voto persino ai nostri
tempi, coi leader che fanno di tutto per ingraziarsi l'elettorato,
cambiando opinione repentinamente su questioni cruciali, entrando nelle
vite degli elettori cercando di carpirne gusti, inclinazioni,
esperienze di vita. Fantastica la bambina, splendido il cast di
contorno (Dennis Hopper, Stanley Tucci...). Costner conferma la sua
intelligenza nelle scelte (qui produce pure) e si capisce perché è
quasi scomparso.

scoperto solo quest'anno, è molto bello. Un approccio abbastanza nuovo
al documentario televisivo. La formula è vincente, la coppia Vincenzo
Venuto e David Attenborough, colleghi "a distanza", è fantastica.
Venuto, soprattutto, che non conoscevo, è stato una sorpresa. Preparato
e appassionatissimo, è un piacere seguire le sue gesta. Immagini e
tecniche di ripresa di ultima generazione, per un programma molto
valido, scientificamente interessante e spettacolare il giusto, che
attualmente mi soddisfa pienamente, la perfetta via di mezzo fra la
formula (mai rinnovata) di Superquark e le cosacce sensazionaliste di
Italia 1 (Wild - Oltrenatura).

Io vorrei capire che cosa è successo a Luc Besson ad un certo punto
della sua carriera. Vabbe', è un cialtrone, si sa, ma il cinema ha
bisogno pure di figure industriali come lui, uno che sforna film a
getto continuo, alcuni diretti personalmente, moltissimi da lui solo
prodotti, film d'azione esportabili e dal ritorno sicuro, con star
internazionali come Jet Li, Jason Statham, Jean Reno e altri, diretti
dai "protetti" di Besson (Leterrier, Bartkowiak e tanti altri), spesso
tecnicamente dotati ma scemi come lui e più di lui. Brutto cinema
d'intrattenimento, d'accordo, ma il cinema è anche un'industria, il
mercato viene prima di tutto e bla bla bla, quindi non è il caso di
scandalizzarsi (noi per esempio un Besson non ce l'abbiamo, da noi i
filmacci appartengono a un solo genere).
Diciamo però che tutto questo mi interessa relativamente, a me
interessa il Besson regista. Non si può negare che nella prima fase
della sua carriera il nostro abbia fatto film buoni/guardabili, penso
soprattutto a "Le grand bleu", "Nikita" e "Leon". E ci butto dentro
pure "Giovanna d'Arco" e "Il quinto elemento" (del quale personalmente
ho detestato l'intero impianto estetico/scenografico) ma che avevano un
loro perché.
Le sue ultime regie lasciano interdetti. Lasciamo perdere "Angel-A".
Lasciamo perdere pure la saga per bambini, quella dei Minimei o come
diavolo si chiamano (visto a spezzoni solo il primo, nemmeno male
considerato il target di riferimento e il digitale poco sofisticato).
Ma che cosa dire di questo "Amelia"?! E' un film d'avventura con
elementi fantastici? Direi piuttosto una commedia avventurosa. O una
farsa fantastica. E' la risposta europea ai blockbuster americani?
Sarà, ma non funziona quasi niente. Oppure è il fraudolento titolo
italiano a fuorviare, a creare aspettative simil-"La mummia".
C'è dentro di tutto e di più in questo film persino complicato, che in
90 minuti concentra mummie, eroine impavide, telecinesi, dinosauri,
suggestioni da altri film, enormi cagate di pterodattilo(!) sulla testa
dello sfortunato di turno, scienza, incantesimi, avventura, melodramma,
grottesco e chi più ne ha più ne metta. I personaggi semplicemente non
esistono, la protagonista è insopportabile, l'intreccio lascia
perplessi, lo pterodattilo non ha semplicemente senso nell'economia
della storia. Ad un certo punto, è vero, torna *utile*, ma questo è un
altro discorso.
Il nonsense è forse l'unica chiave di lettura possibile per questo
film. E infatti tutta la parte finale in cui le mummie si risvegliano è
così assurda da risultare quasi adorabile, un vero guilty-pleasure. Lo
stesso dicasi per singoli momenti come la partita a tennis (con
relativo incidente) o la scena in cui l'incarico delle indagini è
delegato, telefonicamente, secondo una progressione inesorabile, dai
più alti vertici della burocrazia giù giù fino all'ultimo dei
poliziotti.
Non so che dire, è un pasticcio (pardon: un "pastiche", che fa più
figo) Luc Besson non merita più alcuna stima, ma alcune cose di questo
film hanno un fascino tutto particolare.

I saloni sontuosi del Vaticano e i bellissimi esterni della nostra
Capitale fanno da sfondo a questo forte film, dove il Cristianesimo
rimbalza come una pallina da tennis dalle sue dimensioni piu cupe e
cimiteriali a quelle di forsennato esoterismo.
Lo scontro fra Fede e Scetticismo si avvale di una fotografia lussuosa e
di un'eccellente interpretazione, che terrà inchiodato lo spettatore fino
all'ultimo e che ha fatto mugolare di inquietudine il mio cane da metà
film fino alla fine.
Come è politicamente d'obbligo, vince la Fede, sull'onda del famoso: «Dio
è morto con i dubbi della Scienza; ma - nell'Invasamento Demoniaco - Dio
è risorto...»

Con un colpo secco s'affonda nella schiena dell' amico, durante un
abbraccio, il lungo pugnale del Cristianesimo; ma il film distribuisce
un'abbondante messe di violenza senza discriminazioni ideologiche e senza
troppe distinzioni religiose.
A tratti teatrale, cupo ed ossessivo come «Bronson», dello stesso
regista; a tratti, surreale, con scene ed atmosfere che ricordano un pò
opere come «Fitzcarraldo» e «Aguirre, furore di Dio»; quasi senza dialogo
e interamente declinato al maschile.
Non mi è piaciuto, però ...
